Roxanne's Experience
Roxanne has been a midwife since 1988. She has been involved in some aspect of birth work for 36 years, practiced full time in Texas since 2011, and has now attended over 800 births. She also had three midwife attended home births of her own. She has practiced midwifery in many settings: in a rural home birth practice, at a small traditional birth center, at a large urban birth center, and overseas in Senegal, Nepal, and the Philippines. Roxanne has learned and grown in experience from every place she worked, while discovering the tennants of midwifery she is the most passionate about.
Principles of Practice
In Roxanne's words...
"I am passionate about individualized care- each person getting a care plan specific to them with what best for them, not as part of a system designed for high numbers of patients.
I believe everyone deserves to be heard and treated respectfully as an essential foundation for their care.
I believe everyone deserves full informed consent and choice on every aspect of their care.
I believe everyone deserves racism free medical care, particularly at a time when Black maternal and infant mortality rates are 3-4 times higher than their white counterparts.
I believe in culturally competent care- that ideally each person should have medical care provided by someone from the same culture speaking the same language as they do.
I believe in trauma informed care- approaching each person gently, with the understanding they may have physical, emotional or racial trauma in their history.
Above all, I believe in midwifery care that is driven by passion and not by profit. "
Services Provided
Roxanne has a small private practice that allows her to provide a select number of low risk birthing families concierge maternity services in the privacy of their homes. Her comprehensive care package includes all prenatal visits, labor and delivery support for a home birth including a water birth if desired, and postpartum care until the six week check-up.
Who can have a home birth?
Every potential home birth client will get a free screening from Roxanne to determine if they are low risk and eligible for care at home. In general, if you have no pre-existing conditions, are not on medications, and do not have an acute medical condition, you may be eligible. Some exceptions apply.
What is the cost?
The cash pay global fee usually runs from $6,000- $8,000 depending on your package, and includes all prenatal visits, your midwife being on call for you for the duration of your care, attending your labor and delivery at home, newborn exam, all state required newborn testing, filing the birth certificate and your postpartum care until your six week check-up. All visits will be performed in your home or in the location of your choice. For more details, schedule a virtual interview!
